I got a call from a friend in Grand Lake and one of their neighbors has a doberman tied up in the yard all day. They have no yard. I talked him into going over and asking some questions. They basically said, "well he is wild and jumps on you." They offered to give the dog to my friend. My husband and I are going up to see the dog this weekend and will post his picture. They sent me a picture and he was on a pinch collar and looked like he was smiling.

I just do not understand why people would buy a doberman and put them on a fricking chain, not have a yard, and can't even teach the dog to not jump on you. I just wonder if he has been out in all this cold weather. I'm sure. I can tell you if I was that dog, I'd bite somebody!

Why do people even have dogs if they do nothing with them?

RKCM - I agree it is enough to drive you crazy - they are the same people who think kids raise themselves. Both become a detrement to society.

Well you guys can get him out of there and rehome him where he will be loved the way he needs to be. I can help put out the word on him if he becomes available. We know of several people looking for older dobermans. Keep us posted.

They sure can't raise themselves....kids or dogs. My grandkids have always had a dobie so I'm not against that but they were taught. I think some people just shouldn't have dogs at all. If all you can do is put them on a stick in the yard.....well.....?

This rescue lived on a chain. The man has a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old and bought the dog for them. Just sad. The picture they send on my cell and the dobie was smiling. Most likely because he got off the chain. Some people.

He looks like he is smiling to me. Marcia of the DPCA believes she has found him a home and the people train SAR dogs. I hope so because switching males in and out isn't fun but ya can't just leave the dog on a fricking chain when he is smiling at ya...LOL

He arrives Monday and dpca is taking him. I may foster for awhile, just not sure yet. Poor guy, did you see the dirt where he has worn down the grass in his little world. Just can't keep dobermans like that. As soon as he decides we are ok, he's taking a romp in the pasture. I'm sure he hasn't ran full blast in a long time, if at all. They say he is gentle with children and protects their yard and said he was high drive. He'll have to be evaluated which I'm sure Marcia will help me do. He will have a good home.

No, I don't rescue dogs for anything but the dogs. He was let down by the person that brought him into this world.

Just wanted to update everyone on the rescue. We decided that having my friend pick the dog up, transfer him to me, then to Marcia with the DPCA rescue, then to the new owner wasn't the best for the dog, as most will agree. So the dog was taken directly to the dpca and right to the vet. I know he has a big smile being taken off that chain and on his way to a new life.

I'll update you when I hear from Marcia again. I feel better already. I hope she'll send me a picture.;)

So glad to hear that he is going to get a good home. He deserves it.

DPCA rescue has him and he is fixed and in a foster home, loving to be off the chain! He's thin but is almost ready to go to his new home- YEAH

That tree may have a lot to do with thier not being grass in that spot. They can shade it so much that only certian grasses will grow under them and they are not the most heat tolerant of grasses.

No dog should live on a chain, glad to hear he doesn't have to now.

I have to give credit to the DPCA rescue in Bixby. They did all the work. Credit where credit is due. I was glad, since Dagger doesn't really like sharing life with other males. He is selfish. LOL
