I just received and update on Von. He has already had 2 surgeries on his leg that was crushed in the accident and is facing a third. He is on heavy pain meds and of course bored to death when he is awake. I thought it would be nice if everyone wanted to send a greeting I will make a card from the Hub for him. His wife will print it out and take it and read to him to cheer him up.
So if you want to send a message to this thread I will copy and forward it to her.
Von,
I was so sorry to hear about your accident. All the people at DH really miss your humor, knowledge, and contributions to the breed we love. Praying for your speedy recovery!
I have always enjoyed reading your posts and advice in training. Your knowledge of old pedigrees amazes me, as does your willingness to share. Dang! We miss you Von so get well soon. Prayers and well wishes are sent your way.
Great idea 4ever. Thanks for your thoughtfulness.

You are welcome. He is in for a rough time of it and anything positive we can do to help him through this will be muchly appreciated. I am glad his wife is willing to take messages to him for his Doberman fans
I have read his post for awhile and started emailing him privately. He has a remarkable memory of old dogs, temperament, training, and opinions. He was humorous at times and I really miss him. He wasn't on dh long before his accident. Hope he recovers soon.
We love you, Von!

Von: Thot you knew...."Train em up" doesn't apply to vehicles of any kind. Get well quick and get back to the real "train em up"!! :)

He had his last surgery about 2 weeks ago and is back at home. He still has a couple more to go. But the worst is over. He is holding up well and back on the computer which helps to keep him busy - He is a trooper for sure.

Morning all, thanks for your concerns and well wishes! I'm home and doing all I can to be able to walk again, the tibia (left leg) is broken 5 times and fractured 6 the foot recieved the most damage the heel was degloved (flopping off) and a series of rods needed to be inserted to hold it together (the foot). I broke a few ribs and vertebrae and some other things hahahaa!!! Right now the main pain has subsided and I'm dealing with PT pain, trying to drop some weight on to the ankle but by the time I slide the foot under me the tension on muscles and tendents gives me plenty of pain hahahaa!!! The specialists and PT people are telling me that I could be able to walk in a year or so, I'm not happy with that so I'm doing my best to shorten that duration. I'm getting a real understanding of Trama!!!! Not just the obvious from broken bones but the invisible version concerning the mind, this is a learning experience for me and a very humbling one at that. Thanx V.
Praying for ya Von and wishing you a speedy recovery. We know that you are a strong person and hope you are up and about soon.
You have a lot of friends here and glad you stopped by to update us. We all care and want to know about YOU, as a person and dog friend. You have been missed around here.

Von so awesome to hear from you again. Boy you have been through alot. But know that all of our thoughts and prayers are with you and you wife and 4 legged family as well. Glad you are at home. I know my husband hates being in the hospital for long periods of time and hates rehab. He is always glad to get home. Hang in there and here is wishing that you have the fastest possible recovery time. You have definitely been missed here.
