View Full Version : Blasting?
You know I do understand when people speak about not being happy with a puppy etc. I just think we need to speak from information like pictures or a website, links, or owning the puppy. But then, website aren't always up to date. Basing an opinion on something pacific. Just seems safer. Sometimes it is justified so people are informed, and sometimes it's just something else.
What do you think justifies blasting?

Well.....I personally dont think that anything justifies blasting of anyone except for maybe abuse and then you better have some proof to back it up not just someones word for it.
I do see quite often in this breed ( not necessarily on this forum ,which I think is awesome, I have seen many driven away from other forums for this very reason) the bashing and blasting of other breeders for a whole variety of reasons....so and so doesnt show their dogs, dont health test, they do health testing but it isnt the right kind of testing, they bred this male and he wasnt finished, they bred this female and she wasnt finished, and you get my point. And then you see where several well respected breeders have done the very same.
The thing is that I personally was raised to A) respect those around you and the choices they make...meaning I may not agree with some of the things that Breeder XYZ does but they are entitled to the decisions they make.
And B ) Not to judge others unless I may be judged, not to throw stones if I live in a glass house, etc. I have seen so many threads that become searchable on the internet once posted on a public forum where someone simply didnt like the "Person of the month" as I like to call it and horrible threads are started based upon what someone says they saw or know. This lead to the destruction of a reputation that someone may be trying to build in the show ring or in their breeding program solely based on imformation that may or may not be true.
Just my 2 cents, but I dont see where anything good comes out of bashing others in any area of life and believe me some of the folks in our family and people we have encountered in the dog world may very well deserve it but frankly, I just dont have that kind of time or energy. I just try to learn from my mistakes and mive on.....everyone gets one chance with me .:...what they do with it is up to them.
Please dont hate me and if ya' do.....do it via private message ;-)

A good point about the demedectic mange and this would be a perfect example if I may use it.....there are several reasons which would cause me personally to be very careful about "warning" others about the breeder of that particular line.
My particular opinion is that some vets dont know a whole lot about diagnosing demodectic mange and may over diagnose something that they may not actually know what it is. I had a smooth fox terrier who my vet right off the bat said "oh that's demodectic......" turns out it was flea bite dermatitis.
Another thing could be.....consider how dishonest some breeders are. This was a huge problem in weims.....hell would freeze over before some of the top kennels in tje country would admit that there was some health issues in their line.....jon smith buys a dog from that line...shows it....breeds it...not knowing a thing about what lurks in the dark because they didnt get honesty out of the breeder they went to.....then all of a sudden that person is being bashed on a forum when all they are guilty of buying a dog from someone who wasnt honest with them.....trouble could go back several generations before it rears its ugly head.
Again just my thinking as to why bashing.....maybe not such a good idea.

Right Becky! I think always, always, always try and work it out with the breeder :) And on the part of breeders....it is our job to approach potential problems in our line with an open mind and try not to become defensive right away when someone does present problems they may encounter in our pups. We can't correct issues in our lines if we don't know about them. Sometimes we encounter things ourselves and sometimes our puppy buyers bring them to our attention. No one that I know is intentionally breeding dobes with health problems and we all as breeders need to stop every so often and remember why we are doing what we so passionately do....to better and preserve the breed we love, genetically, physically, temperamentally, etc.
Good for you and wishing you the best.
