I got this information from 4ever which I appreciated. Thought it might be a good discussion. I really only know about AKC. Do you have to register the dog with the IABCA? How does the ring work?

Below is the information that she sent me:

We have a new show on our schedule we'd like to let you know about. The 2010 Sooner State Spring Sieger will be held on the grounds of the Clarion Hotel at 2600 N Aspen Ave in Broken Arrow, OK on June 5 & 6, 2010 . The show grounds will be on flat, open grass areas with a canopy for the steward's table in each ring. Visit our website for more information on the 2010 Sooner State Spring Sieger at www.iabca.com. I have had the pleasure of stewarding for Ms. Juliann Kowalsky....she is a fun lady. Good judge and good with the dogs.

Suzan said they are all AKC judges. Who knows how these shows work?

You can enter a show without registering with IABCA, although you will have to register within 40 days after the show to keep your title points. So if you are going to to exhibit in this venue, why not register?! Registering prior to entry does make things a lot easier.

How does the ring work? Just like any other Conformation venue. Dogs first, bitches last in their appropriate classes. Judge looks over his/her line-up, all go around, individual exams & down and back (or judge's choice of pattern), all go around. Now comes the different element, individual written critique. Individually a judge is presented a dog/bitch, and he/she will do a written critique (strong & weak points) for each individual.

As far as all the judges being AKC judges, I don't know. Are all the judges from Germany & Canada AKC judges?

So how is the point awarded? How do you get a champion in this venue?

Thanks Panama for your reply and Suzan for the email. I will read about it today and will surely have more questions.

RKCM - I have a post that explains the IABCA that was posted a couple months ago. You can read that under showing. It is a very nice atmosphere and all dogs are owner handled. It is the same style judging as the UDC and the INTL in Europe with the exception that the dogs do not also take a temperament test for the title. It is strictly conformation but the dogs are judges against the standard not each other with only one dog qualifying.

However, they do rank the dogs so that one dog and one bitch do go back in for BOB and then on to group. The IABCA was started here in the US about 20 years ago and has been a recognized title in Europe for about 30 year.

You will then get a written critique for your dog that you get to keep and have in their file.
