Consistency consistence consistency!

Every 45 minutes take him outside to do his business

If you catch him in the act doing his business in the house pick up take him outsiude immediately, even if he is still going

Praise him like there is no tomorrow when he goes outside

Take him outside after every time he drinks, eats and especially plays

He'll get it eventually

time is your dogs friend. All of my dogs have been rescues of sorts and they all had accidents in the house at first. my latest blue baby had so many of them that I had to go back to house training 101. Make sure she gets out regularly, lots and lots of praise when she does her duty outside, and usually I wait to see it to be sure she does it. And always supervised in the house (restricted area). I make sure I can set eyes on her. After 6 months we are doing well.. I still have to have some restrictions cause she does still pick inappropriate chew toys . She hasn't destroyed anything yet.. but I don't really want her to either. :)

hello everyone my dobe is seven months old we crate trained him at night but during the day mandy F. is right. I have to tell you this, my kids go to bed at 8:00 my dog after the first month, started going to bed at 9:00 even when we were playing with him, he would just go up to our bed room and go to sleep on his bed everynight on his own a little weird huh. he's a cool dog.

Something you might want to think of is if your dobe can let you know when he has to go out that wood be great also (I think it's more for when they are already potty trained)
Apollo hits the door with his front paw. I have also heard of people mounting a small bell next to the door low enough were the dog could hit it when he needs to go out that will take some training though.
