Got my second foster from the rescue group two days ago, a black & tan 4yr old bitch. She's a sweetheart, but as soon as she was surrendered to us she had to spend two weeks at the vet due to complications found in the blood pathology- liver enzymes were way high, to my understanding. They ended up removing some parts of her liver, and had to do the spay separately; we are still waiting on more tests to come back and hoping she does not have any cancers. She was pretty skinny the vet said, and still is, but has good energy and appetite and is beginning to put weight back on.
Good to have a second dog in the house again; this one is not quite the handful that our first was! I'll post some pics as soon as the weather improves.:(

Bless you for opening your heart and home to this deserving girl.

Blessing for sure for her and your family. Please keep us posted on her recovery. Good job in bringing home a girl in need.
My heart goes out to the rescues. It is hard to let them go and you just want them to have a forever home. You do have to wonder why the breeders haven't stepped in to rescue their own doberman. It is a shame that some neglect what is their responsibility.
The good news is that she is in good hands now. Good for you and better for her.

It is wonderful to know when our rescues are seeing to the medical needs of the dog and that they always fix them. It is people like them and you that keep hope alive.
Where is her picture? Hope everything is going well with her care????

Sorry not to reply back sooner, had to get some work done around the house and on my bike this past weekend. :)
Well, my second foster lasted all of three days- the vet whose care she was in for the two weeks previous missed her so much she decided to adopt her! Our director was flat out blown away when she received an adoption application from her. Actually this is probably the best thing for all- her blood pathology came back bad. She has been suffering from hepatitis, which apparently is being caused by 'copper storage disease' in her liver. She will need to see an internal specialist, but who better to care for her through whatever treatments she needs than a vet?
I did get some pics on our last walk, but kinda seems pointless to post them now... :( But, I'll see if I can get them off my camera. Been having computer problems, my old workhorse I built 8 yrs ago has finally given up the ghost, and after repeated attempts to revive her I have given up. So, having to connect from my work laptop or an old desktop my wife isn't using anymore. Still hoping I can recover all my files from the old drive!
On the bright side, I may be getting another foster next week, an owner surrender- get this, because she has a neighbor who is continually calling the police to complain that she has a Dobe! Absolutely no behavior issues, just irrational fear of the breed apparently. I spoke with the owner last night, she is beside herself about it but does not know what else to do. Very sad.

Snuzer - so sorry to hear about the first foster with liver issues. Just so everyone knows I give my dogs 50 mg of zinc every day which is suppose to take up half the space that copper would use to store. That is a layman's terms and how I understand it. It is all a guessing game but I have used it for years with good luck so far.
I persoanlly would call the police and file a harassment complaint against the neighbor every time she filed on me but I am a brat that way. Actually it does make it very hard if you have to live in the same area with someone.
