Sorry for being clueless. I'm a new doberman owner, I've had mine about six months. And I've never heard of an agility dog. What is that?

In its simplest form, an agility course consists of a set of standard obstacles, laid out by an agility judge in a design of his own choosing on a roughly 100 by 100 foot (30 by 30 m) area, with numbers indicating the order in which the dog must complete the obstacles.

That sounds pretty cool. I bet I could set one up in my backyard just to have some fun with my doberman.

I'd love to see some video of a doberman doing agility training. If anyone finds something, please share.

My husband made us a bunch of hurdles, a teeter-totter and other things from scrap lumber from various projects, plus he built them a stepped 'tower' they love to climb up, and from the top platform (about 5' high), they can see further, and they really enjoy the panorama. We do it for fun and exercise, but I am unable to do it IRL, due to disabilities. But it's fun for us, and Willie loves to play catch-the-bubbles, and combines the hurdles with chasing the bubbles.

My neighbor does agility and I love to watch it. The dogs love every minute of it!

For some reason, my dogs love to rip through the tunnels. It's their favorite. Jumping is something else. This is Lucy's sister who will be 10 in a few weeks. She completed her UDX which also involves scent work.

I trained Zeke in agility to the point of being ready to trial. I entered a couple of trials, but then my knees got worse and I ended up pulling the entries. I did continue training for a while, but I used to cry on the drive home, my knees hurt so bad. It really sucks that he never got titled in it because he deserved to be. I thought about asking a friend I trained with if she might try to run him but he's a mommy's boy and it probably wouldn't have gone well. Our instructor tried to run him through a couple of courses, and he'd start out fine but then start looking for me and want to come back to where I was.

They work for those they love. Hope your knees are better. Glad to see you here!!!

They're definitely not better. I lost my mind this week and entered a couple of shows, and intend to handle (badly) myself. We'll see if I can still walk after that ...

Wishing you healing thoughts. I had a knee injury a few months ago and it just limits you. Hope you get well soon.
