I don't know of any treats but we use to feed certain dogs who were under weight cooked hamburger meat (find one low in fat) with there food 1/4-1/2 lb. depending on the size of the dog. You just have to make sure he gets a lot of exercise to burn of the fat. Sometimes we would make mini meatballs and give it to them during training. It worked for them. I don't know if you want to try this with your dog.

you may also look at how much your feeding him, and has his daily exercise increased during the week I feed Apollo his usual amount of food if it is a normal day but during the weekend he plays more with other dogs and people so I take that into consideration and give him a cup more during breakfast or lunch. The other thing people don't realize is as the dog grows he has more weight to carry around and it takes more energy for him to move or run around. These dogs have a high drive so they want to exercise or play all the time they just don't think of eating while they are playing we as the caregiver have to know this. Most people feed there dogs what the dog food company recommends for a dog of certain weight and age but there are other factors like high drive, low drive, and exercise. I don't know if this will help just food for thought.

It depends on who you talk too everyone agrees that a dog needs meat in there diet certain people say they should get it from there dog food (which I'm still on the fence about) others believe a little bit of meat fed in moderation and cooked is OK for your dog and I have read many web sites from vets and dog food companies. Now I would just have to say that a man with a million dollar company and a kennel with over 100 dogs and puppies a day, two of the greatest in house vets I've known, would have thought of the possibility of what worms would do to his dogs his business and his rep. We never had one case. It may not be for everyone read up on it and let me know what you think.

I am in Florida, so I am not sure if you have the same stores/products, but I have been buying salmon & sweet potato treats. They are high in good fats & my dobie LOVES them! :)

Sounds like something that I might enjoy. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look in our local pet store.
