Just wondering how the rest of you feel about giving your dog rawhide? I've had nothing but bad experiences with it.

Absolutely not! It brings out the worst in any breed. I've seen it time and time again.

what do you mean by this?

I don't think its a good idea at all. My doby chokes on it when it gets smaller.

I've never had a problem. I've heard of plenty of people who have.

Our last dog had a hole put in his ear from another dog, who wanted his rawhide. The other dog was golden retriever, who to that point had never showed signs of aggression.

That's a big no from me. Like others who have posted, I've seen good dogs go crazy over rawhide. Not sure what it is but it brings out a primal instinct or something.

It's like candy to a child or a lolli pop the child could choke on it or end up at the dentist with cavities. We don't, a toy will keep him occupied longer.

I do the crumbled and compressed stuff as treat in the crate. I have had too many times that a rawhide would get stuck in the throat. No Pigs Ears either.. they are bad bad bad.

It seems I might be on my own with this but we do all the time. We have never had any problems. I should say though, I can't remember any time where we have given rawhide with another dog around.

The first (and only) time I gave my pup a rawhide, she almost choked... i had to reach down her throat and pull the chunk out. Scary! Not worth it!!!!! Plus, I think it's hard for them to digest. There are other options for treats/bones that are better for health and safety, I think.
