Not sure if it makes us good parents or not, but we feed leftovers to our guys. Never had a problem.

We feed our dogs leftovers, but only meat and vegetables.

Because we're always trying to put weight on Magnum, we do feed leftovers to him. We understand this might backfire on us, and he may dislike his dog food even more, but a dog's gotta eat.

Same with us. No grains.

We don't feed Apollo leftovers. I can definitly understand and agree to all of your points and reasons as long as it is not near the dinner table. My brothers dog use to sit there next to his chair at the dinner table and wait for scraps or leftovers and that drove me up a wall it's like someones staring at you while you eat. We have two children and I didn't want my dog to take food from there hands as they were walking by with a snack or something, but you can train them to only take what is given to them (very easy).

We feed leftover but never at the table. Any food is always given in the dog dish.

I will feed meat scraps in their dinner bowls mixed with their dinner sometimes. The majority of human food is too rich and fatty for dogs on a regular basis. Only my blue dobie will eat veggies - she gets carrot shreds in her dinner regularly but they are not leftover cause I don't like carrots (ha ha). My red dobie and my rottie will just lick veggies clean of any sauce and leave them in the bowl.

The only "human food" I give my pup is peanut butter. She has had the beef/rice combo for a couple days when she was very sick, but I found that she started getting worked up any time I started cooking... like it was time for her to eat. I didnt really like that. I dont feed her left-overs mainly because her stomach probably wouldn't tolerate it. I once gave her a beef bone that I bought at the pet store, and she was sick for days.

Yeah and what does a VET know? Are these the same Vets who tell us not to feed RAW because their wallets are thick from Dog food companies?

How many times has a Human Doctor been wrong? Like the lady who had 2 months to live from Cancer but went to a cancer center and was treated and now has a full life ahead of her again.

Let me ask you this guys... What did domestic dogs eat before Kibble? Table scraps!

Over the years we have learned a few things but it's amazing how much we also forget.

Dogs eat RED MEAT not Carrots, lettus, Multi-V and so on. Sure they will eat it and be fine but do they really need it? NO! We think to much like a Human and not a Dog. Wolves eat RED MEAT and don't tend to Gardens!

Not to mention that table scraps have significantly changed in the last about 100 years since dog kibble was invented. Our nation has diet issues and I can't see that helping our dogs keep healthy. Vet's are like doctors.. you work with them, and test out for what works for you and your dog. Sometimes you may disagree or they may have misdiagnosed, but they are much more frequently correct. For every one cancer patient that walked away, how many didn't? I got with the odds on this one and with the vet recommendations.

I think we all think too much and try to perfect something that has already been perfected over thousands and thousands of years. Dog food companies usually have one thing in mind... MONEY! How can they create a dog food and keep saving money. (Just like any other company and why many of our jobs are now in other countries, to make more money by not paying Americans a fair wage) It's all about money and Vets get some of this along with free food for their dogs. I'm not saying a Vet isn't to be trusted all the time but you got to have a mind of your own.

How long did dogs live back then? Not sure... was dog's health care as good as it is now? Probably not but I wouldn't blame table scraps for it lol.

Table scraps today and table scraps 40 years ago... If you wouldn't feed your dog it why would you eat it? It's funny how some people demand the best food for their dog but then drive down the road for that Big Mac and large fries.

To each his own I guess... When feeding table scraps you have to use your best judgment.

Judgement is the key word here.. since there is no science behind any of the claims. I wish there were.
