I am new to the site but I figured I would say hello and make a post about a site that I found but I don't know about you people but I disagree with on some points check it out. Its training of dogs to the extreme and I don't think I would ever put my dog through that.

You know.. there are lots of people that are interested in the "bite work" as they call it. I would never do anything like this myself or with my dogs. I don't understand it, but on a Rottie site I have visited they talk about it constantly. Of course if I had read that site before I got my rottie.. I would never have gotten her. (they are really seriously in trouble alot on that site.. biting/aggression issues etc). Anytime you are interested in the larger dogs this will come up. I personally don't think that dobies are thought of as much this way anymore and I think that we as responsible owners and good dogs are the reason that is so.

I def. agree with that. I am getting Thunder this week sometime hes 11 monthes old. Hes a stud. Hes a big baby basically and I couldnt see him being that kind of BITE any person you see dog. I disgree with this training and they wonder why people get attacked? Is it truly the dog? Or is the people? But I will have some pictures up of Thunder aka T-Bird here pretty soon.

Yeah Thunder! Can't wait to see pictures! One thing.. unless you are going to be a professional breeder you might think about getting him fixed. It really does help with the behavior and some of the other less attractive things (ie spraying etc).
In my opinion most dog attacks have nothing to do with the dogs, and everything to do with the owners. Because I have big dogs (2 dobies and a rottie) I make sure they are very well socialized with people and dogs and unusual situations (as well as I can). I always make sure they are on leash when we go out and about, because people get scared of big dogs.. not that they will harm anyone, but I don't want folks to be put off. Since my dobies have natural ears and are not black, folks seem to accept them as the big goof balls they are. Then I tell them they are dobies and they all are "Oh - really, well they are beautiful/nice/well behaved" etc. I also do basic obediance with all my dogs and teach them things like, going into another room when we sit down to eat, sitting and waiting till the person at the door comes in before mobbing them. Just polite behavior.
I know you will have fun with Thunder.. I'm thinking about doing some agility with my new blue girl. She is so smart and seems to like it too.

Ya the plan for Thunder is to breed him out to the people I bought him from they have some new lines for him and we are going to breed him and hopefully we get some really good pups! Hes amazing! Hes a perfect european dobie hes amazing! I will def. put some pictures up. He loves people this little girl came up to him at the park when I meet him and he looked at him and started licking her face and wanted to be friends right away! He is a big baby and hes going to be an amazing dog for me to have! I am thinking about showing him because he is literally perfect. I figured I would see if anyone on this site was interested in a puppy because all these people know the true love a doberman has for people.
But yes I agree the handler is what makes the dog mean by all means.
