"Who funds research into the causes & cures for canine disease? What organizations provide you, often free of charge, vast amounts of expert information on the care of your chosen dog? Who provides scholarships for upcoming veterinarians & other K9 professionals? The AKC & such affiliates as the Doberman Club of America do. Who funds & staffs these not-for-profit organizations? Who fights with attorneys the breed legislation? Their members do, by participating in "shows," and otherwise being active in the "Fancy" thru their membership in such clubs, and by volunteering their time & expertise. When you go to buy a puppy, buy from those who ACTIVELY SUPPORT THE BREED YOU LOVE."

This was quoted in part by an unknown posting. The AKC might not be perfect but I do not think breeders or owners that discredit them need to really consider the benefits they serve to our breed. There are many.

http://dpcarescue.com/

This is their website. You can contact one of the committees and find more. I just know that they have fund raisers and have known in the past paid for certain vet expenses on their rescues.

I do know that there are many individuals that belong to the DPCA that support the rescues in donations and fostering.

Let us know what you find out.

Helping to keep our breed acceptable is the job of every owner and breeder and that can be done through responsible ownership, responsible breeding practices. I think anyone who supports the breed no matter there affiliation or status is great.
