Checking you dog's poop on a daily basis is a great way to monitor their over all health.

What is the biology of loose stools? I mean, how can you put food A in and good poop comes out, yet you put food B in thinking food B is a better food, yet the poops become loose? What is the mechanism for the short term loose stools from changing diets? Eventually this type of loose poop firms up as the dog's system adapts to the new food. What is the mechanism of long term loose poop? why does a seemingly high quality food cause long term loose poops? is the quality of the poop an indicator of the nutrition the dog is getting, i.e., good poop = best processing of food and good nutrition?

So many questions about...poop!

When I attempted to switch my Dobe to a new food, she was sick with "the runs" for almost 2 wks. Even 10 tidbits of the new food mixed with her regular food made her tummy upset. We were up 2 times in the middle of the night each night for a week so she could go out. Was not fun. Finally, my pup decided she would not eat the new food at all. So that was that. I wouldn't say the new food was a "bad" food, but it wasn't going over in this house!
