Anyone have more than one dobie? I'm having some issues with my two girls because it seems it is always playtime. I mean always. They are jumping on each other and poking and pinching and barking and generally acting like little kids almost 100% of the time. I am having issues with conf calls (I work from home) due to noise levels. And they won't play without me watching apparently. I can put them outside and they just stand at the door and wait till I let them back in.. same in the house, put them alone outside a room and they just wait till I let them back with me. So quiet then....I know they need lots of exercise, but I walk them and throw balls and I have a special tug toy just for outside supervised play together. When I had my first dobie, he was about 12 when I added my current little red girl (Sara). She was 1 yr old and she just zoomed around him and he loved it. She would race around him in the yard and he would just bark at her every time she went by, but he was older and physically more frail. With these healthy young girls (7 and 2 yrs old).. running and chasing in the yard is a given.. happens about 2-3 times per day and then I get about 1/2 hour to an hour break while they regenerate their energy levels. But the fussy face/playing pokes thing seems to be all the time. Any suggestions?

I don't know if i can offer any more suggestions than what you do already, but i can see i know what you mean. Having two big high energy dogs is a chore to say the least. When Magnum and Tie are together, i just try and put them outside to burn off their energy. if they stay outside for an hour or so they're ready for a nap when the come in...then repeat hahah

Yes..it takes over an hour to get reasonable levels of sanity.. then they rest and repete!
When I crate them to work on individual training sessions they are little angels by themselves.. but combined! Wowser! And since Sara is 7 and was a couch potatoe before with just my rottie I would have thought it would slow down some, but she is just as bad.

Our dobe and lab are like that too. It's always play time and the barking and carrying on continue until they get to chew a hoof, then it's quiet until one decides it's time to change hooves and they exchange hooves for awhile. Outside it's the same especially when there are rabbits and squirrels out and about. Not much to do about it but bear with it I suppose. Lucy, our 1 yr. old dobe, is in obedience training. Bubba, our lab, is 6 yrs. old and trained. They just choose to be silly!

Thats so funny..I have the same combo. Lab and Dobe but they are both around 16 months and my gosh they are nuts!! Sometimes its a wonder they dont hurt each other. They even busted out a living room window while playing..But it does seem like they could play for hours straight..even after comming home from the dog park!

Well.. unfortuantely one of them always seems to end up hurt. My baby blue (Indigo) had a large hemotoma one time, And had to got to the vet last night because my little red (Sara) was squinty in one eye. I didn't see anything, but eyes are not to be messed around with. So off we go to get squezzed in between appts. Turns out she has a corneal abrasion.. and it was very painful. So she has drops, pain med and ointment and a vet recheck in 48 hours. I think that with all the pawing that goes on she got hit in the eye. I have to figure out how to slow this down. Right now I'm keeping them crated and separated.. both will have time with me but not together till after the vet rechecks Sara's eye. Crud!

OMG! This is getting so hard. Indigo ,my blue, is playing so hard with the running she doesn't notice when she hurts herself. She had 4 pretty good scratches in her side last week. So they are finally starting to heal away, and bang! Today they run like demons and she has some pretty bad gouges in both sides. These are about the size of my little fingernail and basically just hair loss, but there is some bleeding around the edges. I can't take much more of this! My only thought is to put her on a leash so she can't play so hard. Just have her attached to me all the time so there is no running and playing? But that isn't why I got two of them. I want them to play, just not to hurt each other.
