Big Dogs

I had this question posed to me today and thought it was amusing and interesting at the same time. I asked the potential client how much time they had and preceded to explain. No matter what method you use most of it depends on the dog, some excel in training and some not as fast or not as fast in specific areas. The only thing that should matter is not the speed at which the dog learns it but the reliability of the dog each and every time to follow the command given and to teach it in a humane way. I'f he wanted speed and reliability they only way to accomplish that is to use the commands the dog has been taught in daily activates such as sitting and waiting for there release command to eat or being given the down command when eating at the table or even having there dog heal by them when taking them out and then releasing them into the yard all of these commands used through out the day build trust and a bond in both your dog and you and also takes a break from the more formal sessions of training but reinforces them. Methods are just that some work better with certain dogs and some are better with others and a good trainer needs to be able to adapt to the dog. Most trainers have programs that they have good results with but you have to be able to tweek it here and there a little for certain dogs or even be willing to change it completely for special cases.
