Just wondering a general amount, either per year or however long you've had your dog. please state whether it's per year or in your dog's entire life

Well, I'm going to have to base some of this on my other dog, b/c my doberman is still a puppy, so some things (live vet visits) will be more this year than they would in a regular year, and others (like training classes) we haven't gotten into yet. This is what I came up with, though;
Dog food- $49.94/mo. x 12= 599.28
Toys/treats/supplies- 15.00/mo. x 12= 180.00
Vet (1 visit, vaccinations, heartguard and frontline for 1 year)= $175.00
Pet insurance- 24.50/mo. x 12= 294.00
Training- 75.00/6 weeks x 2= 150.00
GRAND TOTAL= 1,398.28
And that isn't counting any unforseen stuff. Our shepherd got really sick a few months back, and we paid well over $1,500 upfront over a three day period for her care at the vets (Thank God for the pet insurance! We got almost 80% of that back after the claim went through).
So, between the two dogs, we are probably spending about $3,000 a year.

Oh boy good question. I think most of us are almost embarrassed to say how much we spend on our four legged friends. I would say, on an average month, $125.00. Taking in to consideration yearly vet bills divided over 12 months, toys and treats.

I think these estimates are well within the norm. The big difference is are you going to do on-going training and/or competitions. These will raise the annual billings, but will provide enjoyment for you and your dog. I think the training also gives me a better connection in some ways because I'm more focused on the dog and it is unique time with them.
