Dec 3rd & 4th there is a show in Folsom, LA at Magnolia Park, hosted by The Great Southern Kennel Club.
Great club! They used to host shows in Long Beach, MS that we always attended. Experienced Club, they keep things rolling smoothly, very friendly and always extremely helpful to someone just starting out. Awesome raffles and a lot of great people!

AGAIN... I started this thread for UKC Show dates, not to draw opinions of the UKC venue or someone's dog. If you aren't fond of the venue or want to rip someone's dog to pieces... I would appreciate it if you posted it elsewhere! Please respect the thread topic.

Then start a thread about your opinion of different venues and the difference between their titles.

Very clearly this is a thread on upcoming UKC shows, dates, and to promote interest in this venue. There is an interest.

If you want to question the worthness of the UKC champions begin a new thread like Panama has repeated said. Further posts regarding this will be deleted or moved. Thank you.

I can't vouch for any other dogs but my own and I have no idea who shows up at other shows, but we have gone into the UKC Breed ring with some pretty stiff competition: Mikadobe, Talladega, Bravehart's/Caleb, Veedoc (and numerous others I can't think of off the top of my head).. so...

Thanks for the information and yes, I have also heard there is competition in some areas too. I have thought about taking a drive to OKC to that show to watch or maybe show. I've heard you can enter on that day too. I know that there are a few people in this area that show so there is competition too. Doing some thing with your dog is a good thing.

On a negative note: Any further off topic posts will be edited. I understand that withholding ribbons has been also discussed on the UKC forum. It is what it is and this is not the topic of this thread. We are discussing upcoming events.

I have edited the post to remain on topic and clean up a few posts that were insulting.

If you have a problem with a post, report it and our mods will respond, please do not quote it and make our job harder. This is pretty simple folks, it's talk about the UKC show that are upcoming and questions on how it works. Pam has a lot of information on that venue in showing her dog. Let's keep it at that. Thank you.

I'll look for you to see if they are taking TL's (Temporary Listings). If they are, you can get a Temporary # and enter the shows for that weekend. If you want the points to count towards a CH title, you will need to permanently register the dog with the UKC.

The Tulsa show is Agility Only! Hosted by the Companion Dog Club of Tulsa.

Trial 1 on the 19th is at 8:30
Trial 2 on the 19th starts at 9:30
7:30am & 8:30 on the 20th

The Norman Show is Conf. Hosted by OKLAHOMA AMERICAN ESKIMO DOG CLUB
ALT (Altered Class and JS available also)
NLC-Novice Puppy all 3 shows
2 shows on the 19th and 1 show on the 20th.
Temporary Listings are available at this show.

Temporary Listing & Day of Show Entries
19th:
7:30am-8:30am for show 1 (judging starts at 9:30am)
11:30am-12:30pm for show 2 (judging starts no sooner then 1:00pm)

20th:
TL's & DOS Entries: 7:30am-8am (judging starts at 9:00am)

Guess I need to reg them UKC, so will miss that. We don't want to win and not be awarded the points or title. That wouldn't be fun. Thanks for the information.

How long does it take to get the papers back on UKC?

Been a few yrs since I registered a dog with UKC, so I'm not sure how long it takes to get the Reg Certicifate.
I shot a quick message to the guy that runs the Registration section of the UKC Message Board about the turn around on the paperwork. He's usually quick to respond, so I will let you know as soon as I hear something back from him.

If your dog is eligible for single registration or is UKC litter registered, but you do not have enough time to apply for and receive the registration number back from UKC before an upcoming event, you can apply for a Temporary Listed number (for a $20 fee, which does not apply to the cost of your permanent registration). You will have to get your dog permanently registered afterward, so that your dog’s wins can be recorded on your dog’s permanent record.

Once UKC receives your paperwork, it takes 7-10 business days for them to get the Registration back out to you.

I've always sent my UKC & IABCA registration apps 2nd day Priority Mail.

Teresa is telling me my girls are ready for her to show but I'm thinking not. Be easier to have them trained and at these shows first. We'll see.....Depends if the go on the roadtrip. Dagger was 5 when we showed and finished him in two months. He always liked going places, still does, but we like it better with him at home. Sending him off with my friend that I trusted totally was even hard, glad he came back fast. Didn't phase him at all. I think he was glad to be back though and see his friends. Teresa always said he protected her sit up. He loved her too. He is like that with women, love those males!

And I can't use bait in my pocket? No toys? How does that work?

And you can put a title on an altered dog too?

And Pam, if you want to come down, I have a guest house. It's not fancy but warm and dog friendly and better yet FREE. LOL

It is up to each judge whether they allow bait in their ring or not. They will post it on the board along with the ring schedule.

Bait is considered food/treats or toys. In the UKC ring, "bait" cannot touch the floor, which means NO FLYING HOTDOGS!!! I would not recommend any treats that crumble, as littering the ring can get you excused.

UKC does have an Altered Class. Not all shows have Altered, but the Tulsa show is offering it. And yes, there are titles for Altered dogs. Altered dogs are not judged with regular Classes.

I wish I could make it out there for the shows they have out there... but, it's over 12 hrs.

Hopefully the new rule imposed on the Event Secretaries won't make the smaller clubs fold. There are so few within 5-6 hrs as it is.
I know a few people going to the Perry show in Feb, and I believe we might have a few newcomers from Oklahoma checking out the Tulsa show in March! :D

Personally, I wouldn't show my dog if I had any contact with the judge. To me it's just not in the best taste, it's done by some and shouldn't matter to the judge when judging, and I've given out ribbons to some and other I did not. Who shows is not what judges look at, but the club should. Many clubs of the AKC prevent the show chairman or judges chair from showing but that's an individual club decision. I think the perception of bias just casts a shadow of doubt whether it is real of not. It may not be against the rules but better to be above the board than below it. THe show Secretary receives entries in the AKC show and to my knowledge has never been allowed to show.

Good for the UKC! A good move and if they don't have enough people they need to combine the clubs, cluster, or do what it takes to uphold the integrity of their show. That will make them better in the end, with more entries, more interest, and more value to their awards.

The club that puts on the UKC shows in Tulsa are the Tulsa Dog Obedience Club which I'm a member and the Companion Dog Club. I've trained dogs at both clubs as has our puppies. They are a large club offering many training classes and TDO owns their own building. I know these clubs will not be folding and actually, do quite well, but the money is on training classes for the most part.

And yes, two of my babies are planning to attend. I do not want to take a dog to compete against them. They are novices and didn't get into the classes for conformation, but I plan on helping some. I don't know much about the procedures but feel sure these pups will stack, use their ears and gait. Should be fun. You won Pam Im UKC bound, well sorta. LOL

It is not the Event Secretary that hires the judges. The Event Chairman/woman does.

The rule was initially imposed against Event Secretaries in both Conf as well as Performance Events. It has been lifted on the Performance end, and we are trying to get it lifted on the Conf end as well.

Seems there have been many complaints towards a few clubs who's ES was not available to assist exhibitors, consistantly submitting incorrect paperwork....etc. Unfortunately, this affects ALL Conf ES apposed to maybe fining the clubs with constant paperwork errors, exhibitor complaints...etc One of the larger clubs in Minnesota has chosen to halt all shows as of July 1st (when this rule is to go into affect)
