Where do you guys leave your dobe(s) when you are not home?
We leave Magnum in the kitchen with a baby gate at the door. He could jump easily but hasn't tried it yet.

Ours is downstairs in her kennel (crate) when we're not home. Our lab is in his too. We don't leave them in for an extended time but they've been in their crates for up to 5 hours with no problems and they get a good walk and potty break when we return. We trained them this way and they have no problems.

We use to crate star but in the last couple years we just leave to free in the house. We haven't had any problems. But shes old enough to know better.

We do crate Sheeba (lab) and Kane (dobe) when we are not home. I would never leave them outside by themselves because I just could not relax wondering if they were ok. They are crate trained so its not really a prob. If we know we are going to be out for a while then we try to tire them out and I will fix them a treat of a kong frozen with peanut butter and this seems to keep them quite happy. :)

My two are baby gated into the back half of the house. Kitchen, great room area. My older girl is fine anywhere in the house, but I have only had my young blue for 5 months and she is not completely over making inappropriate choices of chew toys. I figure they will be free run of the whole house by the time a year has gone by. I do crate at night.

Runs free in the house. No REAL problems to speak of.

When my Dobe was a pup, I would crate her. Then she graduated to being confined to the kitchen with a baby gate. Now, she is 1 1/2 yrs old, so she has free rain of the house. She usually is on her bedding snuggled up when I come home.

My dobermans spend alone time in there crates one in the living room and one in the dining room. But this is very rare as we take our dogs everywhere except when we go on bike rides and we are seriously considering a side car so they can be diker dogs to lol

My girls stay in their crates when I am not home. I am usually home for a majority of the day, and my Doberman is a little over a year old now, so if I go somewhere with the intentions of coming RIGHT back...say LESS than an hour, I will leave her in my bedroom....where she is usually on MY bed instead of hers!!:D Before, she stayed solely in her crate, because she had a paper shredding problem, and never failed to shred important documents...like bills on the coffee table. Not to mention she had a hard time deciding which chew toys were hers...not including pens...wires, change, and anything that happend to be in the floor!! I must admit...I am a much better housekeeper now that I own a Doberman!! lol:p
My other pup is fairly new, so she ALWAYS stays in her crate when Im not home. She isnt really a chewer, just has some issues on where she is allowed to potty!

they are crated if I am gone for a short time.... If I am gone short trips they will go with me or if I go out of the country or on vacation they go to the vets....
