hello im new to dobermans. my dobie i adopted from a nice military family that cant handle big energetic dogs a few days ago. he has his ears cropped but not his tail. ive never seen a dobe with a tail so it kinda throws me off. he is 1 yrs old. is it to late to dock his tail? if yes can i still show him in AKC with a tail?
if anyone could point me in a direction to learn about good bloodlines let me know!

My Opinion is not to bother if he still has his tail he may win an event or two but could never get his required 3 majors

Its not to late to dock but as ive said before, docking an older dogs requires extensive surgery, Where a puppy is is quick snip and some stitches.

I wouldn't dock at this point.. check the AKC standard on ability to show if you want to do confirmation showing - likely you could also find a local organization to provide some showmanship classes and that could help as well. How to stack, gaiting etc. These folks can give an opinion on your dog too. For Agility/Rally/Obediance you don't need to worry the breed standard is not required.
