Hi You Guys,

What a great new forum! It's fun getting in on it as it's just starting to take off. I am waiting on my first Dobe pup at the very end of Dec., will probably be a male as the females in the litter are spoken for. So I'll have more to say then, probably lots more to say and ask advice on:eek:! I am ever so intrigued by all I'ver heard and read about dobermans ( I have a friend who was a breeder decades ago who first got me interested in them)... they sound practically human in some ways. I will enjoy reading about your dogs until I get mine (and after too)! BTW, I find the layout of this site to be extremely user friendly and easy on the eyes. Love the friendly, peaceful vibe...

Thanks Dizzy and JB,

D., I will be sure to take you up on the advice offer (dobe puppy!! Cute but...)... It's been awhile since I've been in puppy heaven-hell LOL! I am getting my pup from a reputable breeder here in the Pacific NW, She has champion dogs and breeds mostly for comformation but I've heard her dogs also do well in other areas such as agility etc. Me, I'm just looking for the most awesome companion dog of all time, don't need no champion or fancy schmancy... I'm going with her because after an extensive search (no rescues have worked out for my situation=multi pet home)... she seemed like the best fit plus I met her dogs and they are gorgeous and nice temperaments. No pics yet but soon enough!! I'm going to meet the litter on Dec. 10 and she and I will probably pick my little guy then, am bringing the Canon needless to say. Do you all have any advice on how to pick out the smartest, sweetest, snuggliest puppy? I want a LOW-drive dobe to possibly put through therapy cert., also want him to be smart enough to do my math for me plus be my lap dog to boot. A comtemplative guy, the kind that hangs back and meditates:D!! She said there are always a couple pups in the litter that are real mellow like that. Of course I realize a puppy is going to be a puppy for some time no matter what:eek: !!

I tried that route too. I picked what seemed like the calmest puppy, she slept for the first 3 days I had her!! Then, a few weeks later, she went from calm...to bouncing off the walls, and hasnt stopped since. This is the second puppy that I have picked for being so mellow, both of which turned out to be what seemed to be the most active and hyper of their litters. Not saying this applies to all puppies, just be forewarned!
My Dobie girl is very "clingy", and always follows me where ever I go, and always snuggles when ever she can, and I let her!! Even tho she does all of this, I still think her energy level is higher than most.
Good luck on the new pup!!
