I have five dogs. Usually I try to take two of them for a walk in the morning and three late in the evening. It simplifies thing.
Yesterday, though, the weather was so beautiful that I wanted to walk them in the city park, but I didn't want to go down there twice. So I decided to be brave and walk all five of them together. After all, I show these dogs in competition. I can handle them. Right?
So I get the dogs to the park, attach their leashes, and let them out of their crates. Just as I opened the last crate door (with one of the poodles in it), a Great Dane went streaking by. It had gotten loose from its owner. Pointer, my doberman, went running after him and (since my attention was on getting the poodle out of the truck) I was jerked after him. My other dogs were jerked in turn because they didn't realize what was happening at first. Pointer had such a head start in speed that it took me almost five minutes of running to get him pulled back and settled. WHEW! I couldn't believe how fast it all happened.
When I finally got all the dogs settled down and under control, I saw two joggers laughing their heads off. I thought, "Yes, funny ha ha for YOU!"
