WOW, that is unbelievable! Once again that just goes to show you how ignorant people can be! This topic agitates me more than anything. I have spent half the time I've owned my dogs educating people that Dobermans are typically not vicious, just really good actors on TV. My vet even agrees! He said in todays world he would rather own a Dobie than a Lab. He sees way too many vicious labs. And never has met a mean Doberman.
Also, might I add - While walking one or both of my Dobes, I've been attacked/chased by a Poodle and a Jack Russell, oh yeah and a Collie growled at us!

You make a good point about the dogs being actors on tv. unfortunately people's impressions of the breed often come from there negative image on screen.

This also goes to show how willing people are to move responsibility away from themselves and to the animals. Has happened so many times, on so many different issues- guns, alcohol, tobacco, obesity, pick your problem. We as a society have a HUGE problem with denial of personal responsibility... JMHO.:(

So what can we do?
The only thing I can think of is to get my sweetie pie dobies out there and let the world see how nice they are. I'm going to get my blue her Canine good citizen this spring (we just have to make it past that greeting someone who has a dog). Then we are going to start on agility training. It will be good for her energy and brain.. and I hope good for the breed. Let's get more youtube of funny clever dobies?

What can we do? Open to suggestions?
