Hello, need some ideas here if I may.
I have a 3 1/2 year old that just started drooling today. It isn't a whole lot but this is the first time that she has ever drooled. Knowing this really isn't normal for a dobe I checked her mouth to see if anything was stuck between her teeth but could see nothing. She seems to act alright, not like she is sick or anything. Anyone have any ideas?
thanks,
Kat

I'm not sure what would cause that. Better call your vet and see what they say. Could your dog have gotten some road salt or some type of ice melt in its mouth? That can be dangerous.

Sudden onset of drooling is not good.. I would second the call to vet.

Better be safe than sorry, call the vet.

well thanks for the replies but she seemed fine yesterday, not nervous, sick or anything like that. When I saw her drooling, (it wasn't bad, like excessive) she was just laying in the sun by the deck door as she does every afternoon. I looked over and saw this yucky drool hanging there, when I cleaned it off with a napkin an hour later there was another one. My husband said he saw her do that in the morning. Since she acted just fine and didn't do it again I just watched her closely. Today she hasn't done it at all.
It was weird.

that is weird. My one little red girl will get stringy drool when she is begging for food sometimes. Otherwise I can't think of a reason for them to drool, that is why I suggested vet check. Maybe it was something she ate. Horses get the drools/slobbers in spring when they eat red clover. Watch what she may be tasting? As long as everything is fine, then just take note of it and mention it at your next vet visit?

My ten month old female just went thru this also. She was also acting a little depressed and the other dogs in the house wouldnt stop licking the drool out of her mouth. She also had Horendous breath. The Vet ran some tests and it turned out she had a nasty tooth ache.
