Only days remain before President-elect Barack Obama must fulfill his promise made to his daughters of buying them a puppy.

The Obama family move into the most famous house in America in 4 days time, and if those little ladies do not have a puppy to play with while dad is off being the President and all, they will not be happy.

The dog breeds (http://www.dogflu.ca/dog-breeds) of choice have been narrowed to 2, those being the Portuguese water dog and the good old poodle.

Deciding on which of the 2 breeds to bring into the Obama home may seem like a no brainer for you and me, but to somebody as smart as Barack, the pros and cons are aboundless.

Whatever the choice is, it better be made quickly or else the Obama kids will be 2 very unha

I'd choose a Dobe, might decrease the budget needed for security! haha

I thought from the beginning that they should choose a smaller dog, easier to handle for them, since they haven't had a dog before. I'd hate to see them bite off more than they could chew. The main reason I had my girl spayed was that I feared people would buy the pups and no know what they were getting into. Thinking about one of Darby's pup at the pound was just too much.

I think they should go for the poodle if those are the choices. As first time dog owners the poodle will be more trainable and the non-allergic nature will also help with the expected visitors. Poodles come in a variety of sizes so perhaps it would not be a standard, but a toy?
