Hello Fellow Dobe Lovers!!!

I have already posted my first question in the training section and received some great responses. I thought I better take a minute to introduce myself and my family.

We are a homeschool family in West Tennessee with a small farm. I have my first Dobe boy, he is a 10 month old Fawn named Fritz. We also have a two year old English Bulldog female in the house with us. I have three small children, ages 8, 7, and 2.

I have always admired the Doberman breed and have wanted one for our home for about the last three years. We finally brought Fritz home when he was a young puppy and have totally fallen for him. He is a really great dog. My main worry when we got him was that I wanted him to be gentle with my children. No worries there! He loves and adores all of my kids. If I could keep him from accidentally knocking over my two year old every now and then I would have absolutely nothing to worry about. He is quite a klutz sometimes! I laugh so hard at him sometimes, he can be walking through the kitchen at times and just fall...

Anyway, I have lots more questions I will be posting soon. Just curious, how many of you have fawns or blues?

Nice to "meet" you all!!!!

Jennifer

I have a blue baby, Indigo,.. she is an SPCA rescue so not show quality. I have to say her coat is unusually thick for a dobie which made me very happy because I have heard that dilute colors can have skin issues. My other Dobie, Sara, is a red and has a very poor thin coat (again a rescue ) but a more loving dog you couldn't ask for. How did you get a fawn?

Thanks for the response Jelly,

Our Fawn's dam was a blue and his Sire a red, he was from a rainbow litter. He was one of two large males in the litter and I actually wanted his littermate which was a black male. He was already spoken for though.

I am so happy we wound up with Fritz, I can't imagine having any other puppy! We do have some coat issues with him though. He is a little thin on his topline and dry and flaky in the same area. I have recently started him on fish oil capsules and another supplement I also give my Bulldog, ProDerma. I am hoping this will at least take care of the flakes.

Anyway, thats my story. I am looking forward to getting a female to go with him in a year or two. I am sending him to a trainer next month for some obedience. I want to make sure he is very sound before we add a new one to the mix!
