Good family pet

The doberman is a fine obedience and show dog that can make a good family pet. It is alert, aloof and very loyal and dedicated to owner.

That's great to know. It's just me right now, but someday I'll have kids and my dob can be a great family pet...but for now he'll have to be a great single pet, haha.

Dobermans are great with kids. Newman is so gentle around them, it's really cute.

Dobermans are absoluately wonderful dogs. i had one that was a joy. she was great around children and older people. she was an indoor dog and was very easy to house train. when she was a puppy i just took her out every hour on the hour and when she pottied i praised her...it literally took 2 days. you might be able to get one house trained at 3 months old if the person went to the trouble to train the dog. when she was spayed and had to take it easy for a bit i taught her to roll a ball with me (she would push it to me with her nose and i would roll it back to her) she loved playing fetch outside and roll the ball was for inside. they are great dogs.

I've never heard of anyone who had problems with a Doberman around kids, or as a family dog in general. Great breed.

Apollo is great with my kids and feeds off of there energy especially my son who's 5 sometimes I call him by my dogs name and visavera because they are so much alike it's unbelievable.
