The therapeutic value of dogs is increasingly being recognized. There is even an International Association of Human-Animal Interaction Organizations!

Huh I've never heard of that before. Does that mean when I get my dog I'll be happier?

Animal therapy is beneficial in numerous ways. Studies have shown that simply petting a dog or a cat lowers blood pressure. A quick search for "dog therapy" would give you more information, Dobie, but in short, yes you'll be happier!

I think it is safe to say a dog or cat can put a smile on most people's faces. The thing with dobermans though is they often have a bad reputation, and a smile is the last thing some people give you.
We've been given a few dirty looks, and a few nasty words about Magnum. Some people are truly ignorant about the breed. We've made it a personal mission to change the way those people look at a doberman. We will often engage a person, who seems scared of Magnum, in a conversation. Most people just need to be shown that the doberman is a big baby and poses no threat.

I agree. The public's image of the Doberman is often not a great one. I've always wonder why that is. I think one of the reasons might be because they are used as police dogs. Any video of a Doberman taking down a bad guy would scare anyone off.
