we went for our normal 5 mile run me and my boys, and when we got home i noticed he was limping on his back leg, i just thought he had pulled the muscle so stretched it all out for him and he was fine, but today he was limping again so had a good look and he has sliced his whole big pad off his back foot, the poor dog is in agony, vet said bring him in and we will stitch or staple it back on, but when i explained it is totally gone, there is no pad there she said well im afraid there is no point in bringing him in then, let the air get at it and keep it clean...my poor puppy is hobbling all over the place, i HATE seeing my dogs in pain, it will take him a good while to heal from this, the vet said leave it to the air to heal, but i have been puttin a resealable plastic bag over it and tying it with a silk tier off my partners pyjamas, he will tolerate it as it makes goin out to toilet much less painfull and then take it off when he comes in... the hardest part is keeping him away from it as being a dog he wants to lick it to death...and i am trying to keep it clean.

luckily i still have some painkillers from when he had his car accident, so he is gettin 30ml of that a day, seems to take the edge off it, feel so helpless...my poor puppy :(

not gonna go running till he is better as it is the highlight of his little day he has his daily routine, and he knows when run time is coming...and if i take kaiser and not dino, it will break dinos heart so we will just all have to wait till he has has pad back.

Good luck with nursing Dino. I hope he recovers quickly.

he can put weight on it now, he has a VERY thin layer of pad on it now, so he can at least walk on it, of course as soon as the front door is opened he is off like a rocket up to the spare ground with his brother, typical doberman doesnt feel pain...if ur doberman is crying pay attention something is very wrong, first thing i learned about them.
