It's not good for large breed dogs to roll over because it could twist up their abdominal area. This is particularly true with Dobermans.

Thank you for sharing this. I didn't know that rolling over was dangerous for dobermans, but I'll be certain now to try to get mine to do it.

I've read the same thing about not teaching Dobermans to roll over.

I don't know if your dogs do, but when Blue plays outside and loves rolling on his back. Maybe I should try and stop him from doing that.

Yeah Star loves rolling around in the sun on the grass. I've never heard that it could be potentially dangerous for large breed dogs.

How the heck do I get her to stop after 12 years?

Yeah Magnum is a roller too. We know that it's not good for Dobermans, but what can ya do? He has been doing this since he was a tinny puppy, by the time we were told that they shouldn't roll over, it was too late.

We do try and get his attention when he starts. Other wise, he would lay in the sun and roll around for who knows how long.

An adult dog or puppy, I think it is really bad to allow or train dogs to roll over. I think it is unethical. I wont do it if it is my pet. I think we should not pester dogs or any pet animal for our entertainment.
