Brody who is now 6 months old has started biting and mouthing my youngest boy who is 9. he does not do this to anyone else in the family. he bit him yesterday twice. we keep telling our son to say "off" "no" to no avail. Any suggestions?

Has your son tried using the "yelp" when Brody mouths him? What is your son's personality like? Is he more timid than your other kids? Is he involved in training Brody? Guess I have more questions than suggestions. LOL

The chances are very high that Brody is acting as if your son is another dog and trying to play and interact with him as such. You have to supervise, supervise at this point, and your son will have to work on being a non-playmate for a while till positions get established. Training is great at this point, I would suggest to get your kids and dog to a class. It will give them another way to interact on a more acceptable level. One thing I have always noticed is that kids love to do things over and over again, and repetition is key for the dog to learn behaviors so they tend to work well together. :)

Here is some other advice I have found that might help..
Your son can try two things...
1. When your pup bites/nips on him... yelp as LOUD as he can.. yelp yelp yelp like a pup does and make it high pitch.. and loud.
2. When the pup sits back to take notice... your son needs to stand up with his arms tucked in and exit the room.
The key to this is consistency... talking dog... i do this (nip) and he hurts (yelps) and i have no one to play with (walking out)

i agree, especially with the loud yelp.
Whatever you yell, make sure it's loud
