Monday my Indigo goes in for round two of the heartworm treatment. I don't know how worried I need to be. She has done wonderfully thru the first time, but this time it is two shots and two nights away. At least this will be it, she should be cured from here. Though they say we won't know for sure till almost Christmas - retesting after 6 months. My heart just aches for her. She doesn't understand what is happening or why she can't play with her buddy Sara. Right now she feels pretty good and happy most of the time so I hope this doesn't get her down.

Stay strong and calm, I think that helps them more than anything when it comes time for the vet. Will the vet let you come and visit during the recovery to reassure Indigo? I will say a prayer for you both.

I am going to pick her up this afternoon. The vets called and said she did great thru this second round. Now just keep her quiet for the next 30 days...then the retest at 6 months and hopefully we can be quit of this!

She is home now.. and if I hadn't known she had them I would never have guessed. She is not sore nor sick and very energetic and happy happy happy to be home. Keeping her still will be a struggle, but well worth it for her to be free of this parasite. Thanks for everyone's support!

I've been following the posts about horrible time that Indigo has been going thru. My heart just breaks for you both. I know that it must be hard for you to leave her for the treatments, but I can promise you that she knows that you are doing what you need to do for her to get her through this and she loves you even more for taking such great care of her. Best of luck and please keep me posted.
