Did anyone have the opportunity to watch the Kentucky Derby yesterday? It is going to be a race that goes into history. A $9500.00 small and honestly non descript thoroughbred, trailered behind a Van by his trainer with a broken ankle on crutches, from New Mexico with 50-1 odds outran mutlti million dollar horses by at least 12 lengths. It was incredible... When finally pulled up he appeared as if he didn't even break a sweat, alert and looked as if he had just returned from a jaunt in Central Park.... All thoroughbreds are 1 yr older every January, however his foaling date wasn't until 12 May, so still not even 3.. It was a tear jerker for me. The jock had won the derby under similar circumstance 2 years prior. That race for one for the books...Breathtaking finish...

I watched it and loved he won-I always root for the underdog. He ran like superdog. Some of those other owners/trainers ate some humble pie!!! And if that 75 yr. owner/trainer would have placed it would have been a double dose.

Tom McCarthy?...I was rooting for him as well BUT I was so pleased that this horse won. I think given the economy and all of the problems in our country today, it was a small victory for the under dog and I am sure will inspire much hope. I had a 17 h thoroughbred off the trsck. that was to be put down. He had a BAD bow at only 6 years old. I bought him for a song and dance and after the first year was jumping 4' and never out of the ribbons...for hunter paces...now I own a SLIGHTLY different version of the species...LOL...all 33 inches of him...

I never miss the triple crown races I love it. I so hope that we have an AMERICAN triple crown winner this year. What an amazing story that will be. From rags to riches. First time ever to enter the KD and already a winner. Traveling across county in a trailer and the trainer with a crushed leg. OUCH!!! But what heart that little horse had.

I will be waiting with baited breath for the Preakness and Belmont.

Tidibole-Dexter looks beautiful in that jump, powerful! I showed American Saddlebreds for a few years. Had a 17h chestnut, lost him to colic when he was 14 when we rebarned him out. Still miss riding him.

Still miss riding him.Thank you...He had so much heart and was trully a pet as well. He knew how to open his refridgerator and take an apple, learned to bow , kiss and always made me look good and yet I could put a 3 year old on him and he was 100% plug..LOL..He wasa once in a lifetime horse, I don't miss riding but I do miss the bonding that we had. Even though he was a retired race horse, he never went on a bit, always a beetle hackamore..He broke his maiden in Arlington for $25,000.00 (not with me of course) and I was I very fortunate to have gotten all of his race videos. I am going to attach a photo of the NEXT DERBY winner, we are starting training today...Apparently dynamite does come in small packages...Only problem is my black boy thinks that HE is his girlfriend (a stud) , hmmmm??
