I would like to open up a discusson on this list of the best way to address misinformation.

If someone is honestly asking questions to learn - I have never seen them attacked on this list which is good.

1. If someone gives or promotes misinformation
a. Should we address it?
b. Should we just keep quiet and let it slide?

2. Should each person just do their own research to find out if the info is correct or not and everyone else just keep quiet?

3. What suggestions do you have for making info available or for addressing a problem without offending anyone?

We are open to all discussions here on this forum, but they need to be civil and informative. When threads start pointing fingers it's usually a turn for the worse.

We don't want to run a forum that is heavily moderated and censored though..... This forum is for ALL doberman lovers :)

Thanks Magtie I do think this forum can be a very educational tool. I appreciate the opportunity to be able to participate and hopefully help someone out. I have even learned a few things myself already in the short time I have been a member so I believe we all have something to offer.

Thanks Magtie - I would never want to be amoderater as this is just to volitile a subject with the safety of living breathing lives at stake. You have to have a trememdous amount of knowledge to know what is right and what is not. I think you all work hard to keep things on an even keel.

Perhaps the lack of QUOTE usage would be less "finger pointing"? However, I for one will not call anyone names and certainly do not apprciate being called names by ANYONE!! It is inappropriate behaviour, should be dubbed as such and not tolerated regardless of expereince, lack of or membership status. It also appears as if once a thread has reached an intensity level, people post without making a contributing statement and generally the entire thread regardless of any merits and educational value once achieved go by way of the "proverbial hell in a handbasket". I also feel that emotional contributions are not necessary nor of an educational value and certainly applies if the previous posts are not entirely read and understood before posting on an emotional level. I do not believe in accosting a breeder or anyone else UNLESS they choose to post their imformation and ask for input, then lets face it , open game, can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen, blah, blah, blah..... If we are talking about information, then opinions have no place, only info that can be validated and/or sustaniated. Perhaps all personal aspects of informative posts should be eliminated and only 1. 2. 3. etc should be posted. Dogs, whether, pets, breeding or working provoke very "passionate" responses. Perhaps if a poster has NO expereince or knowledge of or relevant to the subject matter at hand it is best left alone...this forum and any others should be ascertained as a group effort with everyone contributing their expertise wherever it may lie.
