Sorry, I just can't imagine showing a doberman! I always think of show dogs as poodles and long-haired breeds who have been brushed way too much. :D

I guess I don't watch enough dog shows.

Oh, yes, most seriously! I have several dogs–a Doberman, a Pomeranian, a Daushaund, and two full-size Poodles. I show all five of them! I have so much fun teaching them the right way to show off their stuff! Bathing them and keeping them looking their best is one of biggest delights.

My doberman actually took 3rd place in the last show he was in!

That's a beautiful picture! What is your dog's name? Do you show him? I'm certain he would win with his fine looks. :)

We show Dobermans and Whippets. You cannot believe all of the work that goes into prepping some of these dogs for shows. I am so glad I do not have a coated breed such as a poodle because that is just hours and hours of work. Even so you would probably be surprised at the dogs that are dyed etc before shows even though it is frowned upon heavily. There are a lot of chalks sold at the shows for covering up many things on a dog. It comes in lots of colors to match pretty much all of the colors out there in dogs. LOL. I just love the drip dry kind of show dog personally.

FancyFace you are one busy girl showing all those dogs. I admire that. I never take more than 3 dogs to show because it is so much work and invariably if I try to show obedience and conformation times conflict and rings are in different building. Did that and won't make that mistake again.

Oh how true Dobs4ever and when we have a ring conflict it usually means that I also have to show one of the dogs and I don't want to if I don't have to.......:) That is what we have our daughter for and she is really good and can bring out the best in any dog she touches so I figure why should I go out there and even try. Besides that at my age I really don't think I can keep up in the ring with a male doberman so I don't even try.....I guess that I will stick to showing the Whippet not so hard to keep up with anyway.

Unfortunately they seem to be coming back into popularity and you are seeing a bunch of new time breeders who are just breeding but know nothing about the breed, health issues, training issue or anything else. But they sure can crank out litters - rescue get ready - You will be seeing a bunch of these dogs in the next couple years.

I have been seeing so many White breeders. (am I allowed to talk about that in here?) How can they claim they're "CREAM"? The lady at the Rescue said the increase in breeders is has more than doubled. And just because they're breeding them to a non-white, they think they are improving the breed.

I'm all for rescue......my last was a rescue, and a great dog, but so many just pumping out litter after litter hoping to make $... sad sad sad
