OK guys I will probably be hung at high noon for this but I visited this web site since this breeder was recommended. For the inexperienced I can see how easily it would be to be fooled by a beautiful web site and it is a beautiful web site and they obviously spent some money having it made unless they are web site developers. I would think for viewing it that they intend to stay around which is a good thing.
This is the other stuff I picked up on and just wondered if it is important to a new person looking for a Doberman? or would you want to be recommended to this breeder?
1. No mention of AKC registration was the first thing that jumped out at me. They talk a lot about titles for the male (of which he has none) but leave a big hole in even mentioning anything about the Dam of the litter Electra. I have to immediately ask WHY? I did find out first hand she is not registered at all so the puppies are unregistered.
2. The list of titles in the bloodline are not recognizable titles at all even in Europe. The titles in the males pedigree are recognizable although at this point I would want verification of some kind. Trick Dream himself has no titles and at this point am not even sure that they have filed for FCI papers.
I can research the pedigree and verify most of it myself but the average new person would not know how to.
Also not sure you could get FCI papers at this point considering the dogs age if they did not file for them.
3. Puppies were sold for $300.00 which would be another BIG reg flag to me. Why would you buy a male with a decent pedigree and then not register him and / or breed him to an unregistered bitch???
4. They do not ear crop the puppies - of course you could not have ears done at $300.0 but if you care about the crop a respnsible breeder would crop them before going to their families. I would not take a chance on a crappy ear crop representing my Dobes.
5. Not a member of any club or organization -probalby knows very little about the breed wo would not be able to help if a problem arises.
Am I just being too picky??? I only post this because I would not want to have someone go on the recommendation of someone and then later find out too late that they have an unregistered dog if that is not what they wanted.
I can't tell you how many folks I talk to who have had the promise about well yes we could get reg and then find out that the breeder really can't or won't come up with it. It is very expensive to reg an older dog and I believe there comes a point when you can't reg the dog at all.
If that is not important to you then it does not matter and you got what you paid for - an unregisterd dog. I don't have a problem with that if that is all you wanted. I do have a problem when a web site tries to mislead folks by blatantly leaving out critical info and / or hinting at it but not proving it.
I am for AKC reg - after that the only other registeries that I support or want any of my dogs reg in are UKC, IABCA, UDC - Those regestries have standards and not just standards on how much money you can save as a breeder if you reg your dogs with them. They require AKC reg first for the most part -exception is UKC who will reg a dog if it has a long history of UKC regisration behind it which would have to go pretty far back 0 so for the most part, new dogs being reg today with them have to have AKC reg.
They will not reg a dog with a lick, a promise and picture.
I personally could not recommend this breeder on any level. I would think I personally would think if you do not care about reg then support our fantastic rescue people who work hard to keep up with the dogs that flood into rescue due to irresponsible breeding like this. I am not trying to be ugly. I just want to point out how easily JQP can be fooled by fancy footwork and a pretty web site. I will add this - the reason a con artist succeeds is because they have learned how to be nice and smooth talk to sucker you into their web.
