Hi all,
I just got my first Dobie this week and it's been quite awhile since I've had a puppy so I've got a question. Is it normal for her when she's sleeping to just pee? It's never a whole lot, and it only happens when she's sleeping hard. I don't know if I need to worry about a UTI or anything. She's 15 weeks old right now. Thanks for the help, and I'm really excited to have found such a great site :)

Definitely not normal and I would immediatley have a vet check.

But if it is incontinence here is some info

My recommendation would be three standard size pumpkin seed
oil capsules (1,000mg.) per day given in divided doses. I might give
one morning, one early evening and one at bedtime.
> . Give it a good 4-6 weeks before evaluating although you
MIGHT see some results as soon as 10-14 days. That dosage would be for a
large breed adult dog. Smaller dog=smaller dose. AND...this won't take the
place of any fish oil capsules you may be using although you probably
could reduce the dosage of them while trying this.
My favorite brand of these is NowFoods, available at some
independent health food stores (they don't sell to mass-market chain
stores) or you can Google "Now Pumpkin Seed Oil" and see what comes
up. As with most nutrients being used for therapeutic applications
dosage is critical. Post or email me with any questions.

You can also consider this as my vet said, sudafed is similar yet different to proin in how it work , and it costs less.

Well, I took her into the vet and she ran a urinalysis and it came back negative although my girl did in fact have an ear infection. The vet said that the leaking could be from vaginitis and that she'll just have to grow out of it. I will look into the pumpkin seed oil though.

Also, I looked on your website and couldn't find where you had your e-book posted for sale--I must be missing it.

Great suggestions for natural remedies. Also I would want to check with my vet to make sure it was not a UTI of some type. Especially since she is a fifteen week old female puppy. Pretty common since they squat to urinate and then introduce dirt into their system.

Glad you took her to the vet. I feel sure he gave you something for the ear infection and maybe it will help the other infection. If she was my dog, I would be very upset having her PP in her sleep and would think there was something else that could be done for her. Sometimes you have to call them back and tell them.....hey, this isn't better. I wouldn't wait more than 10 days or until she is through with the meds. There are also panties that you can use on her that might help.

Did you call her breeder? Maybe she/he has seen this type of thing before and can give you background information.

Hope she is better soon!!!

She's actually not had that happen anymore for a few weeks so I think we're in the clear! My husband is very glad of that...The funny thing about that panties is that we tried them and she was NOT having it, haha. She'd wait until we weren't looking and pull them right off! That's going to be a problem when she goes into heat, I can already tell.

Glad to hear she is better and not leaking anymore. That is a hard one to live with and Dobes are prone to it. An infecton of any kind can upset several areas other than just the infecton so we just don't always know why.
