Thank you! he is a sweet boy! My daughter just adores him! It is the cutest thing to watch the 2 of them play! He is pretty calm for the most part...the only issues we have had with him is the puppy biting (which i anticipated) and he is not a big fan of his crate...I'm not quite sure how to make this process easier for him...he cries and cries until he falls asleep. If anyone has any good crate training tips I would greatly appreciate them! :)

With Olive (of course she was 14 weeks already when we got her) we made the crate/bed "self rewarding". We'd hide treats or a chew toy in there so that she had something to chew on. We kept the crate in our room by our bed so that she could see us. Initially she'd cry for all of two minutes and then she'd just hop on in there when we said "sleepy time"

If anyone has any good crate training tips I would greatly appreciate them! :)With BABY babies I generally go to the local thrift stores and buy the BIG bears and my favorite the FLOOPY stuffed animals. They are cheap and lay comfortably in the backside of the crate..It gives the baby the mental feeling that he is with a sibling and surprisingly enough they curl right up in a soft spot and sleep. It isn't until they get older that the "sibling" becomes "snow" on the carpet for all the stuffing...LOL.Also I have never used a crate as a punishment and to this dtae most of the dogs enjoy voluntarily going into their crate. When I leave for work several are crated and they anticipate the cookies they get and readily sit and wait in the crate. Good Luck..

Oh looks like another future dog of Royalty. He has it good for sure. Puppies are like kids it is so much fun exploring life with them and seeing their reactions to things. I am sure that you will make lots of good memories with baby Beckham. :)

you are completely right! He is just as spoiled as my daughter! We are loving every minute of him! He is such a great boy, I can't believe how intelligent he is already! Dobes sure are quite an amazing breed!!

Beckham has grown 3.5lbs since we got him 2 weeks ago! He is 9 weeks and 11.5lbs now!
The vet said he is going to be one big boy! :)

I just noticed this post! I still haven't aced the forum thing yet. lol. The beanbag is huge so I think he will have it as a backdrop for a lllloooonnnngggg time! :) He certainly is growing fast! We took a lot of pics of him this weekend...his last weekend with floppy ears!! He gets his ears cropped Tuesday so he's only few days away from being a conehead! lol

He is growing so fast!! He weighed in at 20lbs yesterday! I just can't believe how time flies! His ears are taped now...his hat fell off yesterday so our vet started his tapings so he's much more comfortable than he was with his hat. I took some new pictures of him that I'll have to put up! He's such a sweetie! It's sad though, there are so many ignorant people. In the waiting room at the vet's office I have had comments such as "I can't believe you have a doberman pinscher with a small child" "how can you go through with cropping their ears, it's such a cruel thing to do" and so on...what do you say to such simple minded people?! Oh well...they don't matter, I just wish people would stop stereotyping...he is the sweetest dog I have ever had, and the most intelligent as well!
sorry for the rambling...lol...I just had a bit of venting to do and I figured what better place than a forum for this wonderful, intelligent, and sweet breed!

LOL, he seems like a natural. We have only been able to get little Phoebe in up to her belly so far but she loves jumping around in the water.

He jumped in after me, but then all he wanted to do was climb up me! He is pretty funny to watch swim! His feet are so huge right now so he looks soooo silly when he is doing his doggy paddle! We actually didn't mean for him to get in this time because his ears were taped(the tape was coming off that evening anyways)...he jumped in right after I did ...we were pretty surprised! Does Phoebe have a little pool? Where do you take her to splash around? I bet thats too cute to watch!

Too funny she tried to do the same in jumping in after me and was in up to her belly and froze. They are funny at that age as you said because of their huge flippers.
We have taken her up to Lake Huron, Georgian Bay and different parts of Lake Erie (Ontario/ Canada). I have been considering a kiddie pool but the weather here in Ontario has been dissappointing...lots of rain and cooler than average temperatures.
She loves to dig in the sand and then stick her head in the hole like an Ostrich with her butt in the air. We might try her in the canoe this weekend.

We have a place on Lake Erie, but Beckham hasn't been there yet...it is in Port Clinton Ohio. Hopefully he will make it up there to swim at the beach before summer is over! This summer has been a lot cooler here as well! My in-laws live on a lake so we take him there to hang on the dock with us while we fish.
Hahaha you should try and get a picture of her with her head in the hole and butt in the air, that sounds too funny!
We go canoeing a lot, but have yet to take Beckham...let me know how Phoebe does!!

thank you! he will be 8 months on the 27th. he's becoming very protective of myself and my daughter...he is an absolute riot at the dog park! an american bulldog puppy jumped up on my daughter to give her kisses and knocked her over and it startled her a bit so she started crying and from that point on Beckham would not let another dog near her...he would stand between any dog that attempted to come up to her and if they didnt back off then he would take his nose and nudge them away! She is his baby! and he is hers! They're too cute together!

Brody is mr Protective, he patrols the house if he hears a noise watch out, outside he is very protective of me its amazing sometimes he will be walking and literally stop and growl and someone i dont know, i figure he is letting me know that person he does not like, because he has done this twice in a year. I go with his instincts. I absolutly love my dobe!!
