We went to Gray Summitt this weekend for the International show and had a GREAT time except for the HEAT! The dogs were miserable and so were we, but inspite of the weather - Echo Run's Devine Dancing Diva achieved her Intl Ch and made her Sire - Intl CH Bearcreek Quinnkastra Top Gun, CGC, CD, BH, UDC CD, OB3, T1, ATTS, ATT, WAC (Gunner very proud)
And our own Pamelot's Daredevil - is now also an Intl CH. Shrock is AKC pointed frm the 6 to 9 month class, 3 reserves from the 6 to 9 onth class and one was to a 4 point major - has been home growing up a little more and will be showing again AKC 4th of July weekend.
It is always good to spend time with old friends and make new ones. We all had a great time sitting around talking.

Sue - yes the boy is still working on a few more. More just to keep him interested and working. HE LOVES to work. We are preparing him for his open now if I can keep him injury free. He should have completed it at UDC open Natls this year but was on the R & R injury list so did not get to show. He is also going for his AKC CDX. He already does it all anyway so might as well get the title for him.

Tiditbole - thanks it was a pretty exciting weekend for us because we got to see some of the top males in the country. Justin was there - very nice balanced dog, Trotyl was there so I got to see him in person and was a little disappointed. Intl CH Marienburg's Beau Ty was there - sire to my puppies and I was thrilled with what I saw when stacked all together. He is just so much more smooth and tight package with more elegance in fact almost a tad too much compared to the other Luthor dogs I have seen and he has nicer feet for sure. You sure could not hold up working with platform feet and having to swing out in the rear to move.
Congratulations to Justin for taking breed 2 out of 4 shows.
I am seeing a trend of looser elbows, however, in our breed. I have the same problem so am not quite sure where to go to correct it at this point - more research for sure.
Congrads and glad you had fun even with the heat.

Yes, I too am fond of BeauTy he has a superior easy to live with temperment but possibly is a bit too fine. I also agree that I too, was dissapointed in the overall presentation of Trotyl . I was anxious to see him myself, but I do however agree with you regarding Justin...I think Justin only took breed 2x..Troytl once and then a black bitch? Am I correct? got to watch that Mineral Water...LOL...

Sounds like there was a little bit too much fun that weekend. You guys are funny.I have to admit, the heat was horrendous, worse on Sat than Sunday. Finally found a hose and that took care of the problem, almost took care of mine too..LOL...Had another friend who brough a tent gazebo, Ice chest, etc...the company was good but perhaps should have brought more mineral water!!!LOL...Make note to self ..."MORE DOGGY ELECTROLYTES"...
I am just weird when it comes to being too hot or too cold, just not my cup of tea. With the heat in the south, my dogs are only going out in the very early AM and after 9.
I love dog show but would have to say the heat would of melted all of this household....lol.

Well you just should have come and joined us. Of course we would definitely need to get MORE mineral water. We welcome one and all and when we do go we always have a group that comes and joins us and we end up as the DOBERMAN HUB - how do you like that for a play on words???
Some of us met that way several years ago and every once in a while we do that show just so we can have a reunion. We always have the largest group and cheering section. Don't know if it is the mineral water or our effervescent personalities. A couple of us are pronounced bitches for sure - hence our new nick name the "Nag Hags" but we do know how to cut loose and have a good time especially when it involves our dogs.

LOL...I may have to take offense at that statement, because SURELY you couldn't possibly, even remotely, ever so lightly, so nonconsequential BE REFERRING to me. I stand on record as OFFENDED and in such will have to endure more mineral water to soothe my HURT feelings!!!!OH< BY the Way, where was it I first heard our new nick name, oh, I mean your new nick name!!!

Oh, I sooooo agree, not coming from this area, and I frequently refer to it as the "arm pit" of the US, also have a problem with the heat. My dogs remain in the house until the times you mentioned. BUTTTT, Novemeber is coming up, and last year it was so pleasant that wearing a turtleneck was TOO HOT...So join us...I can assure you, you wouldn't be dissapointed...LOLLLLLL But I will admit I have been known to be stingy with the mineral water!!!

Well had you not been so stingy with the mineral water I might have mellowed out more like someone whom I won't mention even remotely or ever so lightly. The more that was indulged the more she blossomed into the social butterfly of the show. suddenly LOVED everone and NOTHING bothered her. I was frankly ROFLOL.
But at least now I know how to bring out little Miss Sunshine!!! And listen sweetie pie your little butt was right up there with mine on the "Nag Hag" I LOVE it ..... Could not have come up with such a distinguishing name on my own. Hey I have always said I was pure Bitch and pick of the litter tp boot. So Ms RKCM you just come on down and we will have a high time - We can talk Dobermans 24 7 and never stop.
So like it or not we ARE the "Nag Hag" queens - Forever bonded by the tidibole!!! And get the mineral water flowing _ I am headed your way with 10 YES my dear that is 10 little Indians over the July 4th weekend so take all the offence you want - a couple Doggie electrolytes and we will be flying high and laughing hard at our little monkey's with their ears all nice and cropped like a true Doberman.

Susan congrats again on your weekend. The international shows are such a nice and incredibly relaxing break compared to seriousness and stress that tends to come along with the folks that frequent the AKC shows. I for one think they do a great job putting on the shows and definitely makes for a great experience! Purina Farms is also one of my FAVE show locations!!!
It is always nice to see the dogs in person. I for one was absolutely thrilled with how lovely a dog Trotyl is in person, but I am certainly biased ;-) I love my South American Dogs :-) Certainly nice to see some dogs who carry a fair bit of bone and substance for a change.

Thanks - hope it was cooler where you were than were we were. I swear this is my last June outdoor show. I can't take the heat any more. I like a lot of the things the SA dogs brought to the table but not all. Especially for a working dog. They have to have a solid foundation and that is why DPCA came out with the laminated standard. They did not want to see our dobes make those extreme changes and become permanent. A little goes along way. Remember the Doberman is suppose to be a balanced compact dog.
The SA dogs are flashy though I will give them that, but you will never see one holding up in a working venue. Too much rear end. Glad you had a good weekend also.

For some reason Sunday appeared nicer, maybe it was the BIG fan we were able to park ourselves in front of, or the wet towels. And I do agree the SA make a flashy picture but I think presentation is all to important with them. I truly wish that my boy had more forechest, his current weight of 90# has helped and I was told another 3 lbs can't hurt, maybe we can delegate them to the forechest! LOL...but if it is not there, it just isn't gonna be. (Always jealous of the perfect chest, not too overdone or under..LOL..) He has so many qualities that make him fabulous. He IS smooth and moves smoothly, I have always been a movement fan. I have seen some SA dogs that carry a good amount of bone that ultimately appear piecy and coarse and some that are just to wispy. But I guess that is why some people make good breeders, they just attempt over and over again to get the perfect dog. And that is WHY I feel the benefits of a knowledgeable handler is definately an asset..

I also love Trotyl. He has the smoothest front and his neck just flows into his shoulders. He has alot to offer the breed. If you have good rears in your bitches, you can do alot of improving with this dog. He has the bone, gorgeous head, great temperament, perfect topline. Over angled in the rear but ALL dogs have some fault. If you look at his pedigree, just a few generations back it is mostly all american dogs. Since good fronts are the hardest thing to improve, he really has alot to offer. Also when settled down and moved properly he moves very nice. He covers alot of ground and does not throw elbows unless he is getting wild. He definately has more good qualities than bad.
