So I finally get to go pick up my doberman puppy this Saturday (I'm so happy!) and I don't know what kind of food to feed him (or her). I know to get a puppy food, but what brand is best? What do you guys use? Thanks in advance.
Premium foods are specifically designed for puppies and growing dogs are an easy way to ensure your puppy is being fed a high concentration of energy with high quality ingredients in the correct amounts and proportions. You can feed a combination of dry and canned food also..
Your puppy needs good food and plenty of it. At this stage of his life, he's not likely to pig out, but he needs a balanced diet to nurture his growing bones, teeth and muscle, to maintain his hair coat and allow for developing organs.
Take him to the store and buy all type of food. Now.. Open them all and put them infront of him. H
He will eat what he likes the most. Start feeding him with what he likes. This is the best!!
Here are some more suggestions i give Canidae, and Natural Balance are two foods which contain no offensive grains. The best foods for a dog include fresh chicken, turkey, beef, fresh vegetables and fruits, fresh brown rice, oatmeal, yogurt, eggs and cottage cheese. Lean meat scraps and the usual dog biscuits make delicious snacks that the dog will look forward to receiving.

ROFL!!!!! I'm not made of money!!
I decided to give Bambi Hill Science Diet, seems like a good wholesome food, and she deserves the best!

I think your dog will need a puppy formula. You can get this at most pet store and even Wal-Mart or a vet’s office. Do not use human formula because it does not provide enough protein and fatty material for dogs and do not use cow milk because it is too high in fat content.

Most importantly continue to feed what the breeder has weaned them on and if you are going to switch please do it slowly mixing some of the new with some of the old over a period of two weeks. the pup will need time to adjust to the new food. Gradually increase the amount of new food to old as you go along to avoid soft and runny stool. I have had good results with Orijen large breed puppy and now feed raw but leave kibble out if they want more. Some days they do and some days they don't touch it. I am blessed with self regulators so it is not a problem for me.

Large breed puppy food is best because it gives added nutrients for bones and muscle.
