Took Jett to vet yesterday, scared she had obstruction even though belly was soft. For 2 days had vomited, decreased appetite, uncomfortable. Anyway blood work fine, bunch of other tests, & x-rays. Dx: Gastroenteritis. She's on 3 different meds and a special diet when she gets food tonight (no food 24 hrs and very small amount of H20). If she starts vomiting again, the 24 hr. withhold starts again. I didn't know that H20made vomiting worse with this. She drank like a horse and of course it came up. The good news is that at least she kept enough of it not to dehydrate. Vet said likely caused by sticks/bark she scavenged. For 10 days no unsupervisied back yard forays. Guess we'll proof "leave it" now for sure!! She's slinging her water bowl like crazy and looking at me like she just doesn't understand why I can't give her a fill up yet.

Please give Jett a hug for us. Glad to hear it is not an obstruction but it sure is scary worrying about things like that. I currently am going through the same thing with a new show weim that we just added to our family. She is currently on the hamburger and rice diet and with a $228.00 vet bill at least we know that it is not a blockage also. We were lucky though did not have to deal with any vomiting at our house thank goodness just the other end.....:(. Her one script was $80.50 and I am not impressed with it at all. So sounds like no 4th Of July celebrating for our babies.......they will appreciate it in the end....;)

Living around a lot of trees, it's impossible to keep all the dogs away from sticks etc. They chew on them occasionally but never have I had an obstruction....knock on wood. Hope your dog is better. Keep us updated.

Just fed her 1/3 cup of the food from vet, she is SO hungry and thirsty. I'm ready to cry watching her. She ate it out of my hand so I just fed her that way. Forget the blasted bowl at this point!(I did make her sit/wait first though which was soooo hard to do). Then she kept nudging my hand with that hungry-sad look. So I got out some toys I had put up for a while to distract her. She's playing now. Guess we'll at least hear all the fireworks and I did go my class reunion earlier now we're waiting to see if food and water stays down for her. Vet said she might get diahrea on first food so we may have a nice mess before it's over. Oh well, shampooer sitting by the door ready as she flies to the door to get out when she needs to vomit or diahrea in the past. Unfortunately we can't run as fast as her and it comes up right in front of door usually. We aren't upset about the carpet, she can't help it. Her tuck up seem sunk in now, I know she's lost weight. Cross your fingers for us. Rhiannon keep us updated on your weim too!! Hope everyone has a good 4th.

Hurrah! No vomiting or diahrea- she's eating 1/3 cup meals now 3 times today and little more water and can increase! She's funny with her sticks. I stood on the porch (it was drizzling rain) today to watch her in the yard and of course picked up one. She ran real hard to me, laid it down at my feet and whined "why can't I have this anymore, I really want to play with it". Dobes have such expressions sometimes. Guess I don't have her proofed yet on "leave it". Might never master that one when it comes to her and sticks when she's off leash in her play yard :) LOL

I can sympathize with you all, we went through the dogie flu bug about two weeks ago with two of the three dogs getting it of course one had it one week and they other the next my dear wife has just gotten the carpets back in shape. What a mess it did help with the flooring decision for our house renovation.

Big Dogs what kind of floor are you all putting in? I think we're gonna tackle that next summer.
