My dobe seems to always have bad gas. I have tried a few different foods. He was initially on Candidae but I first switched him to Nutro. My vet said it may be a sensitivity to wheat/glutten so he was switched to Solid Gold Hun-n-Flakn. He does good on this but still has bad gas some days. Any ideas/suggestions to decrease the frequency of which I have to vacate the room? I have tried Beano which does help but locating/fixing the cause would be more desirable.

Getting to the root of the cause is always the best approach. Try keeping a diary and see if there is a pattern you have not noticed. Treats can be the culprit as well as an occasional bite of human food the dogs system reacts to. Other things like food gulping can cause air to be swallowed. Stress can also cause digestive problems. Depending on how long ago you did the food switch, his system may still be adjusting to the new food.
Things like enough daily exercise keep the digestive system working, some humans used to often go for a walk after dinner for the same reason. (No heavy exercise or activity after meals as it can increase the risk of bloat.)
Something that I have heard for occasional gas is gas-x. The active ingredient is Simethicone so a generic version may work as well.
You might also consider giving the dog kefir or a probiotic to aid digestion.
Just like humans dogs will still have an occasional bout with gas.
Glad you are back Dravens. We enjoy your posts.

Hello, I am new here, but am an active member on another forum.
I have 2 dogs, one (bitch) from a reputable breeder and one (male) is a rescue.
One of my boys issues was horrible gas. We switched him to a raw diet and have had no problems since. We have seen a great improvement in him all around since the switch.
If you are not comfortable feeding raw, I would reccommend a grain free diet. I would suggest you try either TOTW or Orijen. They are both really good foods. Orijen is better than TOTW and also more expensive.
Good luck to you.
