How short and how frequent should front nails be trimmed. My vet's tech doesn't seem to want to do it any more and my Blue Girl is touchy about her front paws. The big male doesn't really care so we do his but he's so active that he wears his down most of the time.

I grind my dogs 2 times a week and my puppies are 10 weeks and they get it 2 times a week too.

The more often you do it the less time you have to spend on each nail and the less risk of it getting too hot on a nail. It is much easier to keep them short from a pup than it is to get the quick on long nails to recede. If you have never dremeled nails this may help http://homepages.udayton.edu/~merensjp/doberdawn/dremel/dremel.html

Ideal for my schedule is once a week. Hey some weeks I even make it!!! I do puppies with the nail clipper starting at 2 weeks as those nails are sharp and Momma's don't like it. Then dremel at 5 weeks then weekly.

I like to keep them short if showing at least back to where the nail starts to curve for regular and if showing just a little shorter.

We also use the dremel tool. All of our dogs seem to prefer it over the regular clippers for sure. We do them every week as well especially when showing.

I use PediPaws on my dog, he just lies still, and never even moves as I grind away. I used to chop his nails with trimmers, but I drew blood frequently despite trimming very small amounts of nail off at a time. I decided to try this product out, and it worked great!

You can google pedipaws, and it will take you to their site.

Glad it works for you. I bought a friend of mine a pedi paws because she wanted it and it did not have enough power to do my dogs nails and certainly would not hold up for multiple dogs IMO. I love the dremel.
