We take Hank to the chiropractor for adjustments. We take him to our family chiropractor. We take him when we see him stretching himself out a lot. He seems to enjoy it quite well.:)

Gunner's story - A year ago last Christmas while I was in Colorado my hubby called and said he was on the way to the vet with Gunner. That he was unable to move or get up.
The vet took X rays and said since he was paralyized both front and rear end we had to get him to MSU immediately for nureological evaluation and surgery and we only had a few hours to have hope of saving him. I of course freaked. Told hubby to get him to MSU - then calmed down a little and called hubby back and told him to take him by the chrio first - no one was to touch him til Dr. Myers saw him.

The vet was screaming at us that we would kill all Gunner's chances if we did not get him to surgery by noon. We went to the chiro anyway and than goodness we did. Dr. Myers said we had 48 hours to see if we could make improvement and then could always go to surgery - Well to say the least we took him AM and PM for 3 days and by that time Gunner was able to lay up sphinxter like which was a great improvement and 7 days we could put a towel around him to stableize his rear end and hold his front end up by his collar and he coud move to go outside to potty. 14 days he was walking on his own and is now back competing, jumping, scaling walls etc. I am for chiropractic. I have seen it save too many to not believe strongly in it.

Wow incredible. What exactly caused Gunner to have this problem do you guys know? That has also been my experience with traditional veterinary or medical doctors. Jump first where the alternative methods are sometimes the absolute best way to handle things. You can't believe the looks we get sometimes when we are going to the Chiropracter with Hank. We get their last appointment for the day and the people coming out of the office usually freak to see us coming with a big ole bad doberman. :D The questions have been very comical to say the least. We usually tell them he has to go to the chiropracter because he was involved in a very serious head on collision. with our whippet. LOL.

That is pretty interesting I should ask our chiropractor on how he feels about working on our dogs if needed. I guess vets are like doctors used to be about alternative medicine now in the human field chiropractic care is excepted by not only the doctors but the insurance companies to. Great story.

This is actually the second time Dr. Myers has had to put Gunner back together. When he was 18 months he slipped on the ice coming in the back door and torqued himself at a 90% angle rear end to front end. 6 months of chiro and therapy right in the middle of starting to compete with the boy.

then a year ago last Christmas we had 3 weeks of solid ice. My husband did not see but we think he slipped on the ice twisted and turned trying to right himself and then splat himself right down on the ice. That is the only thing that could have torqued him so bad.
I called the vet back and asked her to tell me which region of the spine she saw the problem and she gave me t1 to t4 which was basically the entire back which told me she did not see anything specific but was on a fishing expedition - BUT not at my BABY's expense. So to Dr. Myers he went and I bless that man.

I have friends that send me their dogs so that they can go to Dr. Myers - in fact I have one here right now from Mississippi undergoing treatment. IMHO it should be against the law for any medical doctor to touch human or animal until they have seen at least two chiropractors for evaluation.

You would be amazed as I watch the conformation ring how many dogs have terrible gaits because they are misaligned or have a hip out of whack. People look at me like I am nuts when I say if you took that dog to a chiro it would improve its gait.

I swear that is the truth about the conformation ring and the gaits.....get the backs adjusted. They are just like us.....fall or twist just the wrong way when playing and look how we walk......hehehe. I swear by the chiropractor. Can't think about doing the acupuncture thing though.......no way.
