Hi! My name is Jen. I've been a dobe lover for a long time now.

I have Takoda he is 7. He's a mostly doberman dobermutt. I adopted him from a puppy rescue when he was just a wee little guy.
When I got him I bought many many Dobe books and absorbed all the info I could. His mom may have been a collie/shep, but he's all dobe. The main difference is he is shaped a little different. I guess his daddy just had some strong genes. He is the sweetest, smartest dog I've ever known.

I've been involved in a local Doberman rescue for the past 3 years. Mostly I do phone work like talking to people looking for a dog, or talking to people who want to rehome their dog. I also search local shelters for dogs to pull.

Last November I happened to find a Female dobe at a kill shelter in Wv.
(I'm originally from the Pittsburgh area. We moved here last September.)
I called the woman who runs the rescue and told her about the dog. She said at the time we had no foster homes available, and the only way we could pull her is if I fostered her. My sister and I went to meet her, and I knew right away that if I fostered her, she would be a foster failure so I adopted her.
They assumed that she was between 1 1/2 and 2 years old. Not spayed.
That was another concern I had about leaving her in the shelter. While I knew someone would adopt her before she would be put down, in this area people are hurting for money so bad that they would've seen her and seen dollar signs.

I brought her home, had her spayed, and we love her to death. The former owner's reason for turning her in was that they had to have surgery, and they just "couldn't handle her". The only reason why is because she had been taught NO manners. She still mouths, although we are working on that. She has come quite aways since I brought her home. We constantly marvel at the fact that someone so readily gave up on this beautiful dog.

She is a total spoiled brat. She fits in well with our other dogs, and we love her to death.

Take care!
~Jen
