Hi everyone,
I've posted a few times but not really introduced myself. I am a huge fan of dobermans, I've been owned by two in the past. Currently I have a Kerry Blue Terrier and a Bedlington terrier. The Bedlington..hahahha I used to laugh at the breed , but, now I'm a definite fan. I also have an oriental x Egyptian Mau cat...crazy cat as well as a Congo African Grey parrot , a guinea pig, 2 African side necked turtles, two western hog nosed snakes and a California king snake. Believe it or not, over the last few years I've dropped down in the number of critters in my household. I could have collected admission at one time.
My last dobie lived to be about ten....I coudln't bring myself to get another dobe at the time. I've also thrown the idea around of bringing another dobe home but because they are such velcro dogs I didn't want to have one until I was sure I could provide enough stimulation and attention...some breeds..well quite frankly it takes them 8 hours to even realize nobody's home..heheh. Not so with my dobes..they thrive on being with you all the time. So, after many years of being without a doberman and many different breeds of dogs, I've come to the conclusion that through experience taught to me over the many years by my various dogs, and also due to my hubby taking an early retirement, we will soon be in the position to accommodate another dobe. My hubby used to be afraid of dogs...I had a dobe and a Bouvier when he first met me. My dobe would flip his hand off of me when he tried to put his arm around me. OH, did I mention the dobe also slept under the blankets on my bed! Well, many years of having dogs from neopolitan mastiffs to Australian cattle dogs has brought me back to the fact that the dobie is the best of the best ...at least in my books.
I've been looking around at various breeders. When I lived in Texas I knew a lady that owned a Hyott Doberman. Sarah was the dogs' name. She was a wonderful dog, great to look at, obedient, trustworthy etc. So I've looked over Barry's page more than a few times and considered Hyott for a pup. I do not wish to have the dog pre trained. I enjoy puppyhood to much for that. I've looked close to home as well. Still, I don't want to make a quick decision and I will force myself to wait at least one more year to avoid making that poorer choice that could lead to nothing but heartbreak.
After browsing through the forums a bit..I found that Kimbertal is on this forum. I hadn't thought of a Kimbertal dobe in a very long time. I had info from them years ago when I still lived way up north of lake superior. I am curious bout his dogs and am definately leaning that way. I love the deep rusts and the great heads on their dogs. Not sure I want a dobie over 100 lbs though. I think around 95 is perfect. Anyways, no matter....I have to say I was looking at his site today....I want a male but he has a little girl 83b, that has that expression and look...just intriguing. Of course..its a pic..but I guess that "oh look a baby" maternal thing is just brought out by that certain expression. And yes, I do know better than to treat a canine like a human..hahah...recipe for disaster.
I ramble on don't I? Well, I work for a wonderful organization that supports individuals with ASD ..Autism , primarily. I've been with the same company since 1994 and have been fortunate to have learned so many things from the people that I have supported over the years.
We are also thinking about moving to Prince Edward Island in a year or so as well. Haven't quite decided yet. I have 3 step kids..all grown up and gone now and a daughter, 13.
If you have ever played the game "spore", you may recognize my name, "Gryphon57". Over the last few months I've been to busy with real life to participate on the site. I was fortunate enough to be flown to san fran california to maxis along with 9 other spore superstars. We had a great time together. So yeah, I'm a bit of a kid at heart , hope I never lose that! Okay, so now that I've written a small novel...nobody will bother to read it..duh. Anyways, its great to be a part of this site! Happy dobie ing!:D
