I know this thread is a few months old, but seeing no one had any input on it, I'd share my experience with IABCA show.
I have met so many wonderful people at these shows. Owners, breeders, spectators....etc. We go to the shows held in Orlando, FL.
For the novice owner and young dog (IMO), this is a great place to start. The hustle and bustle of the crowd, getting the dog used to the ring & being examined. A great venue to see if Conformation is for them.
What I like most about the IABCA Shows is the written critique. Doing 4 shows across the weekend (of course) gives you 4 different judges & critiques... cross reference them.
I do think that it is important to do something with your dobie. They want to be next to you and please you. Where do you find these shows?
Thanks for sharing.

Panama - I too have thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Internationl Show. They have been doing shows here for 20 years now so are well established and no one can show a dog that is not AKC or FCI reg so it is very reputable.
It is a German Club under the UCI registry. A dog/bitches must be 18 months old to obtain a title and the dogs are judges against the standard not each other. Especially for the novice owner who wants to learn about showing it is a great place to start as you don't have to get all tied up with the AKC polictics. Judges are much more approachable and will visit with you and answer questions. The critiques help a novice person to see if they see the dog the same way the judge does and know the strengths and weakness of your dog. Very valuable IMHO.
They have different classes just like AKC and puppy can get a puppy title. You must get 3 V1 ratings out of the 4 shows from 3 different judges and one must be a foreign judge. Usually here in Missouri they bring in a Canadian judge. Our judges here are AKC approved judges.

Welcome back and congrads on your new champion. Good to see you back. I really need to go to one of these shows, as I keep hearing about how much fun it is to show in IABCA.
